THE ABU DHABI URBAN PLANNING COUNCIL SIGNED A SERVICE LEVEL AGREEMENT WITH THE ABU DHABI PORTS COMPANY FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE KIZAD INDUSTRIAL ZONE

Today the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council and the Abu Dhabi Ports Company signed a Service Level Agreement regarding the management of the Master Plan for Kizad Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi(Area A).
In conjunction with other Government stakeholders, the UPC through its Development Review Department facilitates the development of strategically located industrial land within the Emirate. Kizad is one of such area. Envisioned to be a world class industrial area benefitting from close proximity to Khalifa Port, rail access (Etihad Rail) and catering a wide range of heavy, medium and light industry, Kizad answers the need of diversifying the range and depth of economic activity taking place in the Emirate.
The industrial Zone Area A covers an area of 51km2 and over 9 million m2 of industrial gross floor area.
With the development of such plan, ADPC and UPC are playing a strategic role in assessing the structure of major economic developments as Abu Dhabi is going further in its vision for economic sustainability by introducing a comprehensive programme of economic diversification.
The first SLA signed today by UPC further strenghten the relationship and understanding between the two governement bodies while putting in place proceeses that clearly assert assigned responsibilities. UPC and ADPC have worked co-operatively on this project since 2009 and the detailed masterplan is now nearing approval.
As explained by Mohamed Al Khadar – UPC Executive Director Development Review & Estidama : “ Abu Dhabi is going further in its vision for economic sustainability by introducing a comprehensive programme for economic diversification. Kizad is a clear example that demonstrates Abu Dhabi’s commitment to offer platforms to support capital-intensive, export oriented sectors in which it can continue reinforce and build on its competitive advantages. Our constructive working relationships with ADPC enables us to constantly identify adjustments and improvements that need to be made to ensure that the Kizad Area A Masterplan delivers the twin targets of economic development and stability “.
Commenting on this, Mr. Khaled Salmeen, Executive Vice President Kizad said: ‘This is a clear example of how we strive to create a accommodative environment for our clients at Kizad by working closely with our government stakeholders. UPC has played an important role from the start in supporting Kizad to achieve its goal within Abu Dhabi’s Economic Vision 2030.’
